The History of the Firehouse PDF Print E-mail

Located just off of St. Nicholas Avenue on Hancock Place is an archetectual testiment to changes in Harlem over the past 100 years. What once was a functional Engine House sworn to protect the people of Harlem is now home to a multicultural Arts Center dedicated to Harlem and to being at the forfront of rebuilding Harlem based its rich history and overflowing culture.

In March 2000 George Faison purchased the then abandoned firehouse to establish the Faison Firehouse Theatre. With hard work and generous support he commenced with the renovation and development of the building in 2001.

Located in the heart of Harlem's 125th Street Cultural Corridor, this 100 year-old building has been transformed into a six-story, 12000-sq. ft. cultural arts center.
